Empowering Voices: A Celebration of Good Care Month

At Select Lifestyles, we’re proud to celebrate Good Care Month by showing how we put people at the heart of everything we do. One great example is how our staff and service users helped name two of our newly registering locations: Mill Water and New Peak.

We’re currently going through the process of splitting our registrations to help improve the way we manage and deliver care. We currently have three registered locations. The goal is to have nine in total. As part of this change, both Mill Water and New Peak are being registered separately—and the process of choosing their names has been a team effort.

Stacey Turner, who will eventually become the Registered Manager for Mill Water (covering Chester Road and Marsons Court), wanted to make sure the name reflected input from the whole team. She shared the idea with service users and staff using their group WhatsApp. Everyone added their name suggestions and got involved in the discussion. Suggestions included:

  • One Love
  • Evergreen
  • New Dawn
  • Pace-Setter
  • New Breeze
  • Mill Water
  • New Peak

After narrowing it down to Mill Water and New Peak, Stacey put the decision to a vote. When the result came back as a tie, she asked Joseph—a long-standing service user celebrating 15 years with Select—to make the final decision. He chose Mill Water, and the whole team were excited with the result.

Stacey shared: “Everyone was so happy. It really felt like a team effort. Joseph reminded us how important it is to include everyone’s voice. That moment brought us all together.”

New Peak, which was also a favourite across the organisation, has been given to another new registration led by Doris Ukwu. This new location will include Penns Lane, Knipersley Road, and Goodison Gardens. Doris will also become the Registered Manager once the registration process is complete.

Both names reflect positive, fresh beginnings. Mill Water represents teamwork, clarity, and moving forward together. New Peak is about aiming high and working hard to reach new goals.

By involving service users and staff in naming their services, we’re showing what good care is all about—inclusion, choice, and respect. It helps people feel more connected, builds trust, and creates stronger teams. At Select Lifestyles, this is part of our everyday approach to care.

If you’re looking for a provider that values people’s voices and creates space for everyone to grow, choose Select Lifestyles. Join us on a journey where your ideas matter, and where good care means working together.
