Open Day: Throne Road – Day Service

Our day service, located on Throne Road in Rowley Regis, was officially opened on Tuesday 12th December by Councillor Bill Gavan, Mayor of Sandwell, who attended for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The centre expands on Select Lifestyles’ existing day service offering, providing clients with access to a sensory room, music room, and arts and crafts. It also offers two large classrooms for Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) courses and other vocational courses, allowing for the continued self-development of clients.

Since acquiring the site in 2019, Select Lifestyles has invested more than £200,000 to undertake a number of adaptations and renovations, transforming the building into a bespoke, accessible environment for its clients. This includes the widening of doors and corridors, the installation of ramps, extensive plumbing work to make space for bathrooms and wet rooms, and the installation of an inclusive kitchen with different worktop levels for wheelchair users.

The service also offers Select Lifestyles’ first sensory room, giving clients the opportunity to enhance their learning through occupational therapy and improve their physical and cognitive skills.

Nick Horton, Managing Director at Select Lifestyles, said: “After acquiring this site in 2019 and facing refurbishment delays due to the pandemic, we are very proud to have officially opened our new day service in Rowley Regis. Our day care opportunities are a vital support to our clients and their families, offering access to a variety of activities within the centres and the local community and helping people gain independence and life skills.

“We are committed to ensuring that our standard of care is second to none and all our clients are comfortable in their surroundings, and the site has undergone significant renovation to ensure this is the case.

“A big thank you goes to Mood Interiors and Rhino UK who have supported with the refurbishment works, and to Mayor Bill Gavan for officially opening the service. We look forward to seeing the success of Throne Road as we support our clients to achieve their true potential.”

Councillor Bill Gavan, Mayor of Sandwell, added: “It was a pleasure to open this wonderful facility. It is a much-needed service and will be a tremendous asset for the people of Sandwell.”
